Spectrum and Satellite Issues

While SiriusXM supports FCC efforts to expand broadband deployment, any rule changes must balance the value of changing current regulations against the need to ensure wireless operations don’t cause interference to incumbent spectrum users. SiriusXM’s satellite radio service is susceptible to interference that interrupts our customers’ service, including transmissions from consumer devices. Because these devices present greater interference challenges than licensed wireless operations, the FCC should be especially cautious before allowing consumer devices to operate in or near licensed spectrum bands, including those SiriusXM relies on. The FCC should also ensure interference-causing devices are not being manufactured, marketed, or sold in the U.S., including via third-party marketplaces.
